EDS Earns ISO 20000:2005 Certification
EDS, an HP company, a leading global technology services provider, has achieved certification to ISO/IEC 20000:2005 Information Technology - Service Management (ITSM). This followed an in-depth audit by BSI Americas.
ISO/IEC 20000 helps organizations benchmark their capability in delivering managed services, measuring service levels and assessing performance. It was developed in order to provide a common understanding of the management of IT services worldwide. The standard comprises two parts: a Code of practice and a Specification, with certification offered against the latter. ISO/IEC 20000 is fully compatible with the ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) framework of best practice guidance for ITSM processes.
"The achievement of the ISO/IEC 20000 certification demonstrates our commitment and dedication to our clients," says Cliff Szafran, client delivery executive of the CMS Enterprise Data Center contract at EDS, an HP company. "The team came together and exhibited professionalism and leadership at all levels to achieve this goal."
With an extensive network of clients, each handling complex IT services, it was important for EDS to establish a standardized process for services delivery. The company began its registration process in October 2007. As part of the ISO/IEC 20000:2005 process, BSI performed on-site assessments, examined EDS' documented procedures and audited its overall operations. To confirm continued compliance with ISO/IEC 20000:2005, BSI will periodically conduct routine surveillance audits of the organization's business operations.
"BSI is proud to lead the international ISO/IEC 20000 certification market while promoting the principles of IT Service Management best practice," says BSI Americas President, Todd VanderVen.
EDS delivers a broad portfolio of IT, applications and business process outsourcing services to the manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, communications, energy, transportation, and consumer and retail sectors, and to governments around the world.
